01 The information behind the service
PhoneLocator processes details you supply and information produced when you use its features. Account details may include an email address, a username and profile information you elect to add.
Technical and usage records may include device identifiers, device type, operating system and app versions, language and region settings, sessions, interactions with features, and crash or performance diagnostics. These records help support the app, investigate problems and improve its operation.
02 Location records and background access
With location permission, the app can obtain approximate or precise coordinates according to your device settings. When sharing is enabled, uploaded records include latitude, longitude, recording time and estimated accuracy. A device or service identifier connects each record to the correct member and location history.
The app can access location while you are using it. If you enable sharing and grant background access, updates may also be collected and uploaded when the app is in the background or not visible. Permissions, connectivity, device settings and operating system limits affect those updates.
Location records support circle maps, history and place names. Apple's map and location services may process coordinates to render maps and resolve place names. Records may also be held temporarily on the device for history or to retry uploads when connectivity returns and sharing remains enabled.
03 Sharing is a choice
Enabled location sharing sends records to our servers and makes them available to members of your circles under the app's sharing controls. Choose people you trust before sharing. Members join voluntarily, can see their fellow members and may leave their circles. Each member decides whether to share their own location and may stop sharing.
PhoneLocator does not find someone simply from their phone number. Location sharing depends on participation in the service and the necessary permissions. The service does not support monitoring someone secretly or without their knowledge.
Use More → Permission Settings to manage sharing in the app. Device settings also control location, background access and precise location permissions. Disabling sharing stops future app updates, although an update already underway may finish. Withdrawing location permission prevents new location access. Neither action automatically removes uploaded history or copies saved by other members.
04 Why information is processed
Information supports location sharing, circle maps, history, place and arrival alerts, and finding a misplaced device that you own or manage. It may also be used to personalize features, maintain performance, understand usage, diagnose technical problems, address misuse or security threats, provide support and meet legal obligations.
Personal information is not used for unrelated purposes unless you authorize the use or the law requires it.
05 Other permissions and advertising choices
Camera access is used when you choose to take an in-app photo. If you permit contact access, contacts may help you invite people to a circle; they are not collected or stored for unrelated purposes. Permitted notifications may cover sharing activity, place alerts and other relevant events. These permissions can be changed in device settings.
Where applicable, the app may ask to track activity across apps or websites for advertising, analytics, attribution or personalization. Such tracking takes place only when platform requirements allow it and required permission has been given. Tracking choices remain available in your device privacy settings.
06 Providers, purchases and disclosures
Service providers may process limited information needed for maps and location data, hosting, analytics, crash reporting, subscriptions, payments, advertising attribution or support. Their processing is subject to their privacy policies and applicable contractual and legal requirements.
The relevant app marketplace handles in-app purchases and subscriptions. We do not directly obtain or store complete payment card details. Purchase status, transaction identifiers, subscription status and entitlements may be processed to verify access and deliver paid features.
We do not sell personal information. Disclosures are limited to operating providers, legal obligations or lawful requests, protection against fraud, abuse or security threats, business transfers or restructuring, and circumstances where you consent or direct us to share.
07 Storage periods and protection
Records are kept for the time reasonably needed to operate the service, maintain features, meet legal duties, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or enforce agreements. The period depends on the information and its purpose. Location history may be held for a limited period for requested circle features and may be cleared by members entitled to delete it.
Technical, administrative and organizational safeguards are used to reduce unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration and disclosure. Electronic storage and transmission cannot be promised to be completely secure.
Processing or storage may occur outside your country or region. Cross-border transfers use appropriate safeguards where applicable law requires them.
08 Managing records and deleting an account
Depending on your location, your rights may include access, correction, deletion, restrictions on processing, objections to certain uses, and withdrawal of consent. Legal limits and identity verification may apply.
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information. For associated location history, use More → Delete Account. Account deletion removes your profile from your circles. Limited records may remain when legal requirements or dispute resolution call for retention; the storage provisions above also apply.
09 Age-related privacy
The app is not directed to children below the age at which applicable law allows independent consent to data processing. We do not knowingly collect children's personal information unlawfully. If information is found to have been collected without required authorization, reasonable steps will be taken to remove it.
10 Updates to this notice
This notice may change as features, processing practices, technology or legal requirements evolve. An updated version will be made available with a revised effective date. Continuing to use the app after the updated notice takes effect acknowledges that revision.
